And on to the "Big Kid's" Room......

Dusty and I moved into our little house in May of 1998, so needless to say, James has never lived anywhere else! We have seen his small room transformed several times in his short lifetime, starting out as a baby nursery, then a toddler's room and then on to the room of a little boy. As a nursery it was decorated in "Classic Pooh" (as my Dad said, "Don't ALL babies' rooms include 'poo'?!!" Very funny, Dad!), and then we (actually Dusty!) moved on to painting the walls for our "construction minded" toddler, with a tool mural! As it became a little boy's room, we struggled for space. There, we've been in a holding pattern for the last few years with that kind of a room....never enough space for the amount of "stuff" that he had accummulated!

Well, sometime over this last weekend, we lost the "little boy" and a young man has moved in, in his place!!! Dusty and James spent the weekend reorganizing James' room and making room for the new desk that had been aquired for him! WOW, what a difference!! Aside from the fact that, at some point in time, I suppose we'll have to repaint and get rid of those tools (so far James isn't complaining about them!) the room has definitely been transformed into that of a young man! There are very few toys left.....they have been replaced by a globe, a few games, science kits, books, and fish tanks, just to name a few things!! James is enjoying his new desk soooo much and is spending a lot of time sitting at it working on "spy stuff"....one of his favorite pasttimes!!

This is his loft bed with the desk and hutch underneath. Also, all the way to the right, you can see Lacey's kennel. She and James "room" together and on the weekends, James loves to sleep on the floor so that they can cuddle together!!
The globe and "toy box", which now has "big kid" stuff in it like soccer and footballs!!

This is the wall opposite his bed....the bookcase and James' new prize possession....the 5 gallon fish tank he got for Christmas. (There is also a 1 1/2 gallon fish tank to the left, in the bookcase!)

And, I HAD to share the two-sided sign that James made to hang on his bedroom door! I LOVE it, as it shows an independent guy who is "spreading his wings"!! That's our boy!! Too funny, especially since I doubt that there's anyone among us who can't remember doing exactly the same thing!!
